About the Writing Center
Our goal at the Writing Center is to assist undergraduate students with their Political Science, Jackson School of International Studies, and/or Law, Societies, and Justice writing assignments at any point during the writing process, from brainstorming to the final draft.
Our Center is staffed with undergraduate tutors drawn from all three departments that support the Center. Having been accepted as majors by at least one of the supporting departments, many of our tutors have successfully completed introductory coursework in all three. They are trained and ready to assist students organize their written work so that it clearly and effectively communicates their ideas.
For Spring Quarter 2010, our hours are Monday-Thursday, 9:30 am to 4:30 pm and Friday 9:30 am to 2:00 pm. We are located in Gowen 105, down the hallway from the main Political Science office (just past the faculty and TA mailboxes).
While we encourage students to make appointments, we're trying a new system this quarter: one tutor will always be available for students who drop-in (on first-come, first-served basis). So come see us regardless of whether the sign-up sheet is full or whether you called in advance: we look forward to helping out!
SPRING QUARTER FINALS WEEK UPDATE: The Writing Center will be open during Finals Week as follows:
Call now to schedule an appointment, but remember that we also have a dedicated tutor available to see drop-ins.
